If you haven’t already, mark January 22 on your calendar. The folks at Harvard have declared January to be National Mentoring Month, and January 22nd, Thank Your Mentor Day. A day to reflect, a day to thank those people that have sacrificed a bit of themselves to make you a better person. What exactly is a mentor? Here’s Harvard’s explanation on their Thank Your Mentor page:
When you were a child or young adult, was there someone in your life—a teacher, neighbor, relative, coach, friend, or boss—who encouraged you, showed you the ropes, and helped you become who you are today? That person was a mentor to you.
They even have a nice tool to help you send a thank you card to your mentor if you like. Take a few minutes and show your appreciation an old mentor.
